The Instrument Rating (IR) Course is designed for licensed pilots who wish to enhance their skills and fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). This training equips pilots with the ability to operate an aircraft safely in low-visibility and adverse weather conditions using cockpit instruments and navigation systems.
The program combines ground school instruction with simulator and flight training, covering the essential knowledge and practical competencies required for instrument flying, ensuring pilots develop precision, situational awareness, and strong procedural discipline throughout the course.
Upon completion, graduates will obtain a DGCA-issued Instrument Rating, enabling them to operate flights in a wider range of weather conditions and further advancing their qualifications toward the Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). The program runs for approximately three (3) months, depending on student performance, weather conditions, and regulatory processing.
The training phases of the IR are as follows:
| Phase | Duration | Equipment |
| Ground Training | 50 hours | Classroom |
| Simulator Training | 40 hours | Redbird MCX |
| Flight Training | 40 hours | Cessna 172 |
Note: Training duration may vary depending on weather, DGCA document processing, and trainee progress/performance.
